Entering this assignment I was uncertain how it was going to go as I am no expert in photography. My overall process for the photographs element of this assignment was all over the place as I did the “easier” elements first and then the harder one. Meaning doing the elements of photography out of order.Ultimately the easiest elements to accomplish once I found a subject which was challenging enough was the rule of thirds, depth, leading lines and perspective. The elements that were most difficult were balance, basic shots and shallow depth of field. Finally, while the elements of the background and natural frames in the scene seem simple by the mind to accomplish they still brought challenges. For instance when it came to the background element the biggest challenge was finding a distracting background and then figuring out how to make the subject fit with its specific backgrounds whether it is bland or full of colors. As for natural frames in the scene the difficulty was picking the subject because the windows “weren’t working” due to a lack of light. Also making sure that for the natural frames I knew the difference between having the framing element and not having the framing element. While this assignment was certainly challenging for me and certainly getting me outside my comfort zone, I definitely learned a lot of new skills when it comes to photography.
